On 21 April 2025, Dreamlopments activated the protocol version 4.0 of the C-FREE-CSEA study at Mae Ramat site in Tak Province, in collaboration with the local partner Give Hope and Mae Ramat Hospital, led by Dr. Suta Pattarakijroongrueng (Director) and Dr. Kanitha Surimuang (Study Physician).
This protocol change is a new major step forward towards the sustainability of C-FREE services.
Following the Thai government’s removal of drug use as an exclusion criterion for the treatment of hepatitis C under the national program in November 2022 (guided in part by C-FREE-1 success), C-FREE-CSEA protocol 4.0 now includes procedures to integrate hepatitis C treatment provided by the national program with the C-FREE community services. At Mae Ramat, hepatitis C treatment provided through C-FREE now also includes sofosbuvir/velpatasvir produced by GPO (the Thai Government Pharmaceutical Organization), provided by the national program.
Together with our partners across all C-FREE sites, we are advancing efforts to broaden access to hepatitis C care for people who use drugs and other vulnerable groups throughout Thailand.
